Synchronisation for Next Generation Networks
Friday 7th April 2006

The deployment of Next Generation Network infrastructure brings with it the challenge of synchronisation delivery within packetised network infrastructures.

The workshop discusses the challenges faced and provides an overview of the technology available to deliver synchronisation in Next Generation Networks including GPS, Circuit Emulation, IEEE 1588 and proprietary solutions.

IEEE 1588 is one of a number of technologies emerging as a means of synchronisation delivery within packet based networks. It provides a viable alternative and complimentary technology to traditional GPS based solutions. A comparison between the two technologies and the merits of each is discussed and explained.

The workshop session will be presented by Horsebridge and Semtech Ltd.
