Synchronisation is an essential element within all 21st Century Telecommunication networks enabling real-time and high speed
Digital technologies and value-added time sensitive services like real-time Video on Demand, high speed Internet access, Videoconferencing, Bank to Bank encrypted data exchange, multimedia applications, are based on reliable network architectures (Internet, GSM, DCS 1800, ATM, SDH, xDSL and many other network technologies).
All those architectures and services underlie one basic principle : networks must be synchronized.
Moreover, dramatic subscriber growth and consumer demand are driving Telecommunication operators to place emphasis on quality, reliability and breadth of services. Therefore, it is imperative that they address the serious timing and solve synchronization problems that may degrade service quality.

OSA5548b Core Network SASE
The OSA 5548C Synchronisation Supply Unit (SSU) is the latest breakthrough from Oscilloquartz, a pioneer in synchronisation of SDH/SONET and mobile networks. It is designed to provide telecom operators with reliable synchronisation, using the latest in hardware and software technologies. The 5548C system provides a scalable synchronisation solution ranging from 20 unprotected up to thousands of 1:1protected outputs.
The 5548C can be a redundant G.811 PRC source if you decide to include one of two possible GPS cards (this does not change the number of inputs or outputs available).
In addition to E1 and 2.048 MHz output cards, any of the 10 main output slots can be equipped with time distribution modules (NTP or IRIG-B) or with E1 re-timing cards.
With its complete and consistent family the OSA 5548c has two main chasis options 6U/12U ETSI: 200 outputs or 3U/6U ETSI: 60 outputs, each capable of additional expansions with up to a maximum of 1000 outputs. The 5548C is the SSU of choice when you need scalability and reduced spare parts inventory. This flexibility makes the 5548C the most versatile SSU in the marketplace.

OSA5241 Retimer
Co-existence of data and voice traffic, and emergence of sophisticated mobile networks, almost always requires some form of equipment synchronization. In today's de-regulated telecom environment, synchronization distribution is a complex issue, since traffic signals often traverse several synchronization domains.
Interfacing problems affecting the quality of synchronization are almost inevitable. The OSA 5241 provides a solution to this problem based on the synchronization of equipment via re-timed E1 or DS1 signals.
Re-timing consists in "imprinting" the timing of an available synchronization signal onto a given traffic signal, usually an E1 or a DS1 signal.
In the Re-timing function, the outgoing traffic signal contains the traffic data coming from the traffic input and the timing coming from the synchronization input. The outgoing traffic signal can then be used for synchronising other telecom equipment such as a switch or a base station.
Re-timing is useful in all situations, where there is no other way than taking a traffic-carrying E1/DS1 signal to synchronise an equipment, and when the original E1/DS1 signal is affected by excessive levels of wander.
Features:
• Two retiming channels
• Two frequency outputs (2.048 MHz)
• Two frequency input reference (2.048 MHz)
• High frequency stability allowed by the use of high performances OCXOs (high loop time constant)
• Less than 1x10 -10 / 24 hrs holdover frequency accuracy
• Expected life time greater than 20 years
Benefits:
• Stability and competitive accuracy at a minimum price
• Removes the excessive wander in E1/T1 lines
• Synchronizes any equipment from traffic carrying E1/T1 signal
• Low power consumption

OSA4510 OEM GPS Module
The OSA 4510 GPS-SM is a card-level GPS-receiver module especially designed to eliminate these problems. The module consists of a GPS-receiver circuit, a high-performance OCXO oscillator, an input interface for 2.048 Mbps, 1.544 Mbps or 2.048 MHz synchronisation signal together with a variable voltage power supply. It provides either an electrical E1 / T1 or a square waved frequency signal as output.
The OSA 4510 GPS-SM is fully equipped with an internal OCXO Oscillator which filters the received GPS signal, thus providing a G.811 / STRATUM 1 (GR-2830-CORE output signal. The unit also provides jitter & wander filtering and a hold-over capability according to ITU-T G.812/GR-378-CORE. The additional input is intended as a backup reference input in case the GPS signal is absent.
The OSA 4510 GPS-SM has excellent proven performance level of, amongst others, MTIE in harsh temperature conditions as specified in ETSI 300 019-2-3.2 (please refer to graphs on next page). This makes it suitable for synchronising e.g. 2nd and 3rd generation cellular networks such as cdmaOne, cdma2000 and UMTS. These mobile networks require their base stations to synchronise the frames on the radio interface to a common reference.
The OSA 4510 GPS-SM provides the signals necessary for these applications. Its holdover mode keeps the base stations operational, even when the GPS satellite signals are momentarily lost, caused for example by interference problems.

OSA5565 Synchronisation Test Set
Synchronisation forms a vital part of any digital telecommunications network. A well maintained synchronisation backbone minimises network errors, thus increasing network efficiency. The result is a higher quality service and greater utilisation of capacity.
Synchronisation issues are often addressed only when problems occur. The introduction of more stringent industry standards has led to the need for greater control of synchronisation. For network operators, this involves monitoring the performance of synchronisation signals to identify potential problems.
For equipment manufacturers, this means testing their equipment to ensure conformance with design objectives as well as the standards. Traditionally, assessing the quality of synchronisation has been a tedious process because of the unavailability of appropriate test equipment.
SyncTester is a truly portable solution with an internal high stability Rubidium reference. This makes it ideal for field testing as it does not require an external reference. SyncTester is delivered with WinSTS, Oscilloquartz' new Windows software. WinSTS offers a user-friendly interface that makes testing easy. WinSTS calculates measurement data automatically and displays MTIE and TDEV graphs while you watch. This is in addition to displaying TIE, Average Frequency and Allan Deviation graphs while the measurement is taking place. Graphs can be saved for later analysis or imported directly into other Windows applications, greatly simplifying report generation.
Features:
• Accurate high resolution measurement as specified by ETSI and ITU
• Automatic computation and generation of TIE, MRTIE, TDEV .
• Internal Rubidium reference
• Portable reference Clock function
• User friendly dedicated software
Benefits:
• Compact high stability Rubidium reference clock
• Ideal tool for Network synchronisation characterization
• Performance measurements for SDH equipments
• Wander measurement over long term period (e.g. days or weeks)
• Plug and play software package
