Providing multi-play services is a strategic way for operators to compete with relatively new market entrants, such as the MSOs (Cable Operators) and other competitive triple-play carriers. The key is to be able to supply a full suite of communication and entertainment services that will offer an attractive and profitable bundled mix of traditional and new services.
Operators today are looking for efficient ways to provide on a unified platform a bundle of services to their residential and business customers. Their goal is to make it robust, cost-effective and future proof to reduce churn, stay ahead of the competition and be ready for any applications the market may demand in the future.
The services
Operators can offer a broad variety of services to gain an edge and increase ARPU in the ever more competitive environment, while keeping CAPEX and OPEX expenditures low. The basic package consists of “triple play” – voice, data and video services. Additional services such as business services, entertainment services and a variety of IT and other value-added services may be added to the basic package.
